These are two-dimensional patterns that may be folded to form a polyhedron. Use for Christmas tree ornaments, or what ever you like! Learn a little math while having fun.
During development I turned a group of 2nd graders loose on these and they had a tremendous time!
In Illustrator, I repeated the shapes into a scaled 20 x 36 inch document and ran them through my Rolland Cam 1 plotter with a thin point plotter pen. I only needed three sheets for everyone in my daughter's class. Besides the usual decorations, I took along a pile of vinyl decal scraps from our sign department, and some of the finished shapes rivaled commercial ornaments!
For superb results...
PostScript printers will work best - these are EPS files and will print to the resolution of your printer. They can be placed in any of the popular desktop publishing software - or directly from Illustrator, SmartArt or the Public Domain DA called "Browser".
Transfer to stiff paper. Your local printer can supply sheets of 90 Pound Index which works very well.
Cut out carefully - you'll get nice crisp folds if you use a ruler and a very fine ball-point pen to score along the (dotted) folding lines.
Decorate as you like. Try family photos, or glitter art. My daughter (9) covered one in fabric scraps for a beautiful result!
Decorate before or after assembly...
Decorating before assembly will make a much nicer looking finished product. Be sure to leave decorations OFF the glue tabs.
Assemble with score lines to the inside if you do not want them to show!
To hang: attach an āSā hook (made from a paper clip) at any vertex.
Most importantly however, have a good time!
Happy Holidays... Fred
